Underprivileged Kids Get A Taste of Culinary Magic @ Lee Kum Kee Gives Back Program

New Year came early for the 120 underprivileged children of the Pusat Jagaan Kanak-Kanak Cacat Taman Megah at 21st December 2012. The purveyor of Asia’s well-loved sauces and condiments manufacturer, Lee Kum Kee (Malaysia) came to visit. Representatives of the company came with cartons of Lee Kum Kee’s Panda Oyster Sauce, recipe booklets by Lee Kum Kee’s brand ambassador, Chef Wan and colorful school bags for the coming New Year. More interestingly, Lee Kum Kee’s in-house Chef Wilson was brought in to whip up a healthy, hearty and utterly delicious meal for all at the welfare home, including workers and caretakers, using various Lee Kum Kee’s products.

The lovingly prepared meal was a real treat that brought great delight and smiles to the children’s faces. Local favourites such as Claypot Chicken Rice, Crispy Fine Shrimp Chicken, and XO Sauce Fried Rice were cooked and served. On top of that, Chef Wilson provided the caretakers with helpful tips on how to fully optimize the usage of their newly received oyster sauce supply to conveniently prepare restaurant-quality meals within a minimal amount of time.
“Lee Kum Kee’s oyster sauce is made from the finest oyster extract. Its rich oyster flavour enhances the taste and appearance of many dishes. It can transform a simple dish into a gastronomic delight. It gives us all, at Lee Kum Kee, the greatest pleasure to know that the children here enjoyed themselves today. “, said the General Manager of Lee Kum Kee (SEA, ME & Africa Region), Mr Edward Chua.

Lee Kum Kee is a strong believer in giving back to society. Over the years, Lee Kum Kee Group has contributed greatly in various causes, especially when it comes to education, as it is believed that sound education is the permanent solution to many societal problems. Some examples of their contributions include helping to build schools and supporting students in need. Besides the Pusat Jagaan Kanak-Kanak Cacat Taman Megah, four other charity homes comprising or underprivileged children and the elderly received 4 cartons each of Panda Oyster Sauce plus recipe booklets by Chef Wan. The receiving homes were Pertubuhan Rumah Amal Cahaya Tengku Ampuan Rahimah, PJ Caring Home, Agathians Shelter and PJ Sunshine Home.

“We are glad that we are able to enrich the lives of these wonderful children. We see that so many other charity homes could benefit from our corporate social responsibility (CSR) programs such as this. In the coming year, we hope to engage in even more CSR activities, reach out to more people and spread our love through good food! ”, said Chua.
